The music and physical education were new subjects. But, the both of them are very important to get the modern body for modern global world. It is known that the Japanese “shoh-ka” was influenced by the hymns. However, there are less research about that from the Christian theological aspect. John Wesley(1703-1791), founder of the Methodist movement, published his first hymnal, “A Collection of Tunes set to Music as they are Commonly Sung at the Foundry”(1742)(“Foundry Collection”)and second hymnal “Select Hymns with Tunes Annext(1761)”(“Select Hymns”)for parishioners of his church. This paper, h Wesley’s own peculiar views. In the “Foundry Collection” and next “Select Hymns”, how did Wesley present the Methodist faith and musical literacy which had eventually been established in those days? In this article, I consider the effect for the theology and the music skill through to education by the theology of John Wesley.
