The music and physical education were new subjects. But, the\nboth of them are very important to get the modern body for modern global world. It is known that the\nJapanese “shoh-ka” was influenced by the hymns. However, there are less research about that from the\nChristian theological aspect.\nJohn Wesley（1703-1791）, founder of the Methodist movement, published his first hymnal, “A\nCollection of Tunes set to Music as they are Commonly Sung at the Foundry”（1742）（“Foundry\nCollection”）and second hymnal “Select Hymns with Tunes Annext（1761）”（“Select Hymns”）for\nparishioners of his church. This paper, h Wesley’s own peculiar views. In the “Foundry Collection”\nand next “Select Hymns”, how did Wesley present the Methodist faith and musical literacy which had\neventually been established in those days?\nIn this article, I consider the effect for the theology and the music skill through to education by the\ntheology of John Wesley.
