| 内容記述 | In recent years, prolonged recession has led to stressful working environments. The changes in personnel and laborer management, such as the abolishment of the seniority system and introduction of an achievement-oriented policy, have negatively influenced the workers’ mental health. Job stress is defined as a large framework in which the job stressor is recognized as a cause of stress, and thus, coping with it leads to stress reactions. In addition, personal characteristics and interactions with surroundings buffer these stress reactions. The NIOSH job stress model assumes many stressors, such as role conflict, role vagueness, degree of discretion, workload, skill utilization, work-related danger, conflict in a group, conflict among groups and social support¹⁾. Furthermore, the stress reaction is changed based on the adopted coping action as well as the stressor. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the interactive influence between previously reported elements of stressors and the coping action for developing psychological care to reduce the worker’s stress reaction. This research aimed to investigate the influence of job stressors on coping behavior. Firstly, we investigated job stress factors that predict stress reactions for defining them for populations in current research (employees in a food-manufacturing industry). Secondly, we conducted a multi-regression analysis using the extracted job stress factors as explanatory variables and coping behavior as the objective variable. The results demonstrated that planned coping was significantly related to several stress factors, such as the degree of demand, degree of discretion and skill utilization. People with high self-management ability tend to adopt planned coping and act with planning to achieve their goal. Furthermore, the aggressive cooperation request was significantly related to support and skill utilization, indicating that an atmosphere with good communication with colleagues and a workplace with supportive conditions enable a person with knowledge and skill to resolve problems and communicate with others for adopting an aggressive cooperation request. We concluded that it is important for the employees’ mental well-being to facilitate them to utilize their knowledge and skill and to organize supportive conditions regularly for enabling them to select positive coping behaviors, such as planned coping and aggressive cooperation request. |
